Fiqh (Islamic Law)

Fiqh (Islamic Law) is the study of rules and regulations for worship. It is the most important subject to study because it enables a person to worship Allah (Most High) in the correct manner according to how the Messenger Muhammad (peace be upon him) taught us.
At the Kirkcaldy Central Mosque, we teach a popular text titled: Islamic Way Of Worship by the erudite scholar Shaykh Imdad Hussain Pirzada. The book is compiled in an easy and accessible manner covering the 5 pillars of Islam, with all the rules and regulations to carry them out correctly.
The following topics are covered:

1. Taharah (cleanliness)
This includes rules pertaining to Wudhu (ablution), Ghusl (Bathing) and Tayammum (Dry Ablution).

2. Salah (Prayer)
This includes the study of the Adhaan (call to prayer), the Fard (obligatory prayer), the traveller’s prayer, Janazah (Funeral) prayer and other important prayers.

3. Sawm (Fasting)
This includes all the rules relating to a fasting person and its importance. The rules for I’tikaaf, (Ramadhan spiritual retreat for 10 days) is also studied.

4. Zakaah (Obligatory Charity)
This includes all the rules pertaining to the obligatory charity one must donate towards those who are poor, and those who are entitled to it.

5. Hajj (Pilgrimage)
The method performing the minor pilgrimage (Umrah) and Hajj (greater pilgrimage) are covered in detail along with their virtues and importance.

The class is conducted in an open and relaxed manner enabling students to ask questions openly and commence discussions. Practical exercises are also demonstrated alongside the theory information for maximum learning.
